Guy Debord (1931–1994) was the most influential member of the Situationist International, the avant-garde group that triggered the May 1968 revolt in France.

While Debord’s written work (including The Society of the Spectacle) is some of the most notorious in the world of political and cultural radicality, deemed “the cornerstone clich� of postmodernism,” his films have until now remained tantalizingly inaccessible.

About the Author

Guy Debord was the founder of the Situationist International, the notorious avant-garde group that triggered the May 1968 revolt in France. His most notable work, "The Society of the Spectacle," has been translated into 15+ languages and has sold over 30,000 copies in English to date. He committed suicide (suffering from a debilitating illness) in 1994. Ken Knabb translated and published the "Situationist International Anthology," selling over 14,000 copies.
