Hardcover, black leather spine with gold bands and blind-embossed decoration, marbled-decorative covers in brown, green and white, turquoise marbled end-papers, the binding is in excellent shape overall, clean, tight and square, small areas of mild edge-rubbing is the only flaw, the former owner's name is present on the first blank end-paper, foxing is present in the contents but we stress that it is very mild on most of the pages, moderate on a few, it does not affect readibility nor does it detract much from the appearance of this splendid copy, 383 pages, part of the publisher's "Collection of Ancient and Modern British Authors" series.
