Item description from seller

A4 spiral-bound crimson notebook with Donald Mitchell's handwritten pencil notes on Mahler written for Teldec, the German record label, April-May 2000. Also included three typewritten articles contained in a white A4 folder on Gustav Mahler by Erwin Ratz. Written in German they are as follows: 1. Gustav Mahler Vortrag gehalten anlaßlich einer Schallplattenaufführung der V. Symphonie in der Akademie für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, am 15. November 1954. 2. Zum Formproblem bei Gustav Mahler: Eine Analyse des ersten Satzes der IX. Symphonie. 3. Zum Formproblem bei Gustav Mahler: Eine Analyse des Finales der VI. Symphonie. Mitchell's notebook contains other notes on the Philharmonic education prize cd, 4. vi. 2000; an introduction to Arthur Oldham autobiography, May 2000; and Chailly, June 2004. Born in 1925, Donald Mitchell was a music writer best known for his books on Mahler and for editing Benjamin Britten's letters. Very good.
