Complete 2 volume set. Tan marbled leather bound covers are very worn at extremities particularly along hinges and leather on spine strips is crackled. Leather covers have been treated with special leather rot treatment to prevent further deterioration. Boards and spines are straight. Bindings are tight. Marbled end sheets and paste downs have leather and gilt label of "Angus Cooke Col. Sergt 71st Highland L. Inf." on front paste downs. Cooke was a sergeant in the 71st Regiment of Foot in Dundalk, Scotland. He served with the Regiment throughout the Napoleonic Wars in Spain, France, and Belgium. Light foxing to front matter. Pages are lightly toned with sparse modest foxing and in very good condition. Complete with 65 copper engraved plates which includes frontispiece to volume 1. Plates are mostly of various nobility and other notable individuals. Books are 11" x 8.5". Rare. Comes with letter of provenance. Seller Inventory # 13517
