Copy 2 the FIRST EDITION, 1927, is in full pebbled cloth, gold stamped spine titles and Heron on front cover, top edge gilt, a pristine example with contents brilliantly clean. This set of 3 volumes are in the original dust jackets in Mylar protector. Contained in two original boxes, with white spine labels, titles printed in black, as usual they show typical signs of minimal wear on edges, corners, nevertheless firmly intact. . This set also contains a 3rd volume, bound in gray stiff wrappers, with title: SUPPLEMENT TO A HISTORY OF ENGLISH LITERATURE BY LAFCADIO HEARN, VOL. 1 [From Ben Jonson to Restoration Drama], 16.8 x 25.5 cm., published by the Hokuseido Press, 60 pages, very good, clean, solid, with a bit of spine paper missing at head/tail, else firm and clean, occasional feint neat pencil marginalia, not distracting. SELDOM FOUND WITH THE ORIGINAL FIRST 2 VOLUMES. After the publisher realized this information was lacking in the set, this item was published and put together with the first 2 volumes.
