244 pages. There are 111 full-page illustrations, primarily sketches but some engravings as well. Tall octavo, red cloth binding with gilt lettering. "The object of the present volume is to provide the hairdressing profession with a complete and absolutely authentic history, profusely illustrated, of the evolution of the coiffure from the earliest periods." Good condition, the binding unworn but with occasional soil. Old stain to outer edge of front free end paper, and owner name on that end page with offsetting from the signature on to the title page.
