Dark red cloth, slight fraying at bumped spine ends, spine's gilt lettering slightly dulled but still easily legible, some staining to boards, front board's gilt stamping remains vibrant, board corners bumped. Edges toned; several dark stains at lower fore-edge fractionally affecting a few leaves at their margins. Glue repair to surface paper tear at front hinge; past owner's signature in pencil at top of front free endpaper; a few leaves lightly creased at their top corners from past fold-downs.
