second edition 8TH IMPRESSION Green cloth boards with dark green winged dragon on the front. There is slight water marks and soiling on front cover. Sun-faded spine. Back has same illustration as front cover. Slight edge wear around corners and spine. Inside free end papers have maps of Middle-Earth. Yellowing to pages noted. Small book plate inside front cover with "Parkers of Oxford". Slight foxing. Scattered black and white illustrations by the Author throughout. Text is clean and intact, binding is tight. Frontispiece is beautiful color illustration. letters "TO" on spine in red ink DATE PUBLISHED: 1956 EDITION: SECOND 315 PAGES.
