How Hackleburg Became a 13-Pie Church [Paperback] Riley B. Case

Let's face it, there's a little bit of Hackleburg in every congregation. You see, Hackleburg Methodist Church is a fictional congregation in rural Indiana, and through the years it's given us characters such as: Marybelle Hasselbaum, the head of the Women's Society, who kept everything running smoothly until she died at 82 without a successor. Lush Larkin, former saloon owner who once was lost but was gloriously found. Aunt Minnie Rittenhouse, and members of the church choir. In the history of the Hackleburg church, we also hear of the 13-pie potlucks, weather-dependent picnics, rivalries with the Baptists, Methodist cuss words, and the grace of God, which seemed to get those Hoosier Methodists through every trial - still speaking to each other (most of the time). Through Riley Case's telling of these whimsical, heart-warming stories, we are reminded that God is love, is patient, and has a sense of humor.
