Hadrian the Seventh

8vo. 350pp. from Herbert Weinstock's Introduction to Hadrian the Seventh: "A novel that is a plea for mercy, a wishful autobiography never intended to be believed, a roman a clef wildly unjust to several of Rolfe's now-forgotten enemies and friends, Hadrian the Seventh tells of an early twentieth-century Briton who is lifted with stunning suddenness from snarling obscurity to the throne of St. Peter." #04416. Book G: heavy scuff and stain to front board, text clean, binding tight DJ Poor: tear with loss across front panel and spine, edge and corner wear, clipped.
