Half-Way Back

Ryn has spent a long time learning how to exist without being seen.

She moves through the city unheard, keeping to rooftops, shadows, and the abandoned greenhouse she calls home. There are rules for people like her: don't be noticed, don't stay too long, and never get attached.

Then she notices Rowan.

Rowan is a college student who spends her evenings alone in a coffee shop, writing in her journal and trying to understand the loneliness she can't quite put into words. Ryn watches from a distance, drawn to something in her that she cannot explain-and eventually does the one thing she has always been taught not to do.

She leaves a note.

What begins with a single word becomes a conversation neither of them expected. Through journals passed between shadows, Ryn and Rowan begin revealing pieces of themselves they have never trusted anyone else to see. Rowan wants something real. Ryn wants to believe she can be real to someone.

But wanting to be seen is not the same as knowing how to stay.

As their connection deepens, the distance between them becomes harder to maintain-and the rules Ryn has spent years following begin to collide with the one thing she has never been prepared for: being loved.

Halfway Back is a tender, atmospheric story about invisibility, longing, healing, and the strange courage it takes to let another person truly see you.

Because sometimes finding your way back doesn't begin with stepping into the light.

It begins with finding someone who makes you willing to be seen.
