Seven years ago, the first edition of HANDBOOK OF AFFECTIVE DISORDERS immediately met with critical acclaim. Eugene S. Paykel, M.D., is Professor and Head of the Department of Psychiatry, University of Cambridge in England. Previously, he was Professor of Psychiatry at St. George's Hospital Medical School at the University of London. He also worked at Yale University from 1966 to 1971, where he was co-founder and later Director of the Depression Research Unit. He has written and edited many papers and books on depression and is joint Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Affective Disorders.
