About the Author
Mr. Rosen recently advised the executive management of a leading institutional brokerage firm on strategic technology planning and implementation issues related to the firms move toward electronic trading. As part of this assignment, he conducted a comprehensive survey of buy-side and sell-side firms on institutional equities trading and technology trends and plans.
As Chief Information Officer and Director of Quantitative Research for a New York based money manager, prior to joining ETC, he was responsible for developing and implementing a plan for the IT and operational support structure of a new hedge fund.
Mr. Rosen has also served in senior management positions with a leading Japanese brokerage firm and a pioneering software company providing on-line trading systems to Wall Street firms, where he helped develop one of the first automatic execution systems for trading equities.
Mr. Rosen has been widely published on financial technology and risk management topics. His commentary has appeared in numerous international financial and technology publications, among them Euromoney, Financial Times, Global Investment Technology and Wall Street & Technology. He co-authored Advanced Computer Applications for Investment Managers (Elsevier, 1989), Using Technology for Risk Management (Simon & Schuster International, 1991), The Global Directory of Financial Information Vendors (Irwin Professional Publishers, 1993), and The Handbook of Investment Technology (McGraw-Hill, 1997). Mr. Rosen has also served as Technology Editor of Investment Operations: The Quarterly Journal of Securities Custody, Clearance and Settlement.
Mr. Rosen is a frequent speaker on the international lecture circuit having chaired, moderated and spoken at dozens of industry events. He has also been interviewed on national television on the subject of program trading. An alumnus of Columbia University with MBA degrees in Finance, International Business, and Marketing, Mr. Rosen also holds an MA and ABD in International Politics and Quantitative Methods from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he lectured in Political Science. In addition, he has served as Adjunct Professor of Business Policy at Manhattan College, and lectured at NYU Stern Graduate School of Business.
Russell Glisker is a Managing Director of Enterprise Technology Corporation. His over 25 years of experience include diverse consulting activities as well as positions within the financial services industry. He has managed the development of investment software, particularly in the areas of portfolio management, accounting and trading. He has consulted with senior management in the formulation and implementation of competitive strategies and assisted clients in business process reengineering (BPR) efforts.
Mr. Glisker is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and contributor to investment industry trade publications. In several positions at a major brokerage firm, he has been involved in research sales to institutional money managers as well as planning for a correspondent clearing business.
Mr. Glisker participated in the development of a portfolio management system that was one of the first to employ extensive graphics to assist managers in understanding the structure of their portfolios. The system was a precursor to one still in use today in a number of bank trust departments. He has managed the design and development of an innovative trading support system for the block trading desk of a major institutional brokerage firm. An early use of on-line systems for this environment, the system provided traders with access to client portfolios and trading histories and also enabled traders to record trading interests learned in conversations with clients. In addition, Mr. Glisker managed consulting studies to assist senior management in the evaluation of acquisition candidates and the development of corporate strategies. Major engagements included an acquisition study for a Baby Bell, strategy development for the tax practice of a Big 6 accounting firm and the assessment of growth opportunities for a major lessor of commercial aircraft.
Mr. Glisker holds an M.B.A. with Distinction from the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He did his undergraduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he earned an S.B. degree in Applied Mathematics.
