Handbook on Migration and Artificial Intelligence

This forward-thinking Handbook demonstrates that AI is not merely a neutral tool but a key shaping force in the contemporary governance and practices of international migration. Leading experts provide multidisciplinary perspectives on the potential benefits and risks of AI across the field.

The Handbook examines the conceptual, normative and practical impact of AI across diverse migration contexts. Contributors investigate renewed debates about identity, belonging and human rights, as well as the rapid digital transformation of migration governance. Chapters move from foundational concepts and frameworks to concrete applications and cross-cutting challenges, addressing key issues including asylum processing, border surveillance and climate displacement.

The Handbook on Migration and Artificial Intelligence is a timely resource for scholars and students of migration, refugee studies, law and international relations seeking to engage with one of the most pressing challenges of our increasingly digital world. Migration practitioners and policymakers will equally benefit from its comprehensive analysis.
