Very rare, dimunitive hardcover measuring 4 5/8" x 3 5/8" x 3/8" wide without a spine title. A pocket-sized handbook for British army officers covering all aspects of horsemanship including riding, tack, grooming and ailments common in horses. Very good in red cloth with titles printed in black to the upper cover, the text is securely attached to the covers, no names, tears or soil in the 125pp text that is illustrated with line drawings throughout and complete with two fold out illustrations showing the Points of the Horse, and a comparison of the skeletons of horse and man. Two small water spots on cover, a few fuzzy edges as the cloth is pasted onto the outside of the boards only, not wrapped around and secured under the pastedowns so cardboard is exposed but no eyesore. More than suitable for gift-giving.
