About the Author: Nicholas J. Higham is Richardson Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Manchester in England. Professor Higham is the author of more than 60 publications and is an editor of the IMA Journal of Numerical Analysis, Linear Algebra and Applications, and the SIAM Journal on Matrix Analysis and Applications.
