Significativa � la vicenda del suo testo quando pilota lo stesso tipo di aereo sul quale si sono schiantati due suoi colleghi e non se ne sono trovate le cause. Nelle ultime pagine il famoso volo al bunker di Hitler ormai circondato dai russi.
