Synopsis
Heard the one about the guy who wrestled a lion in a pit on a snowy day just for fun? Or about the guy who took on a giant Egyptian twice his size? Or the three special ops ninjas who risked their all in enemy territory - just to get a bottle of spring water for their General?
These are just some of the startling exploits of the Mighty Men who fought alongside King David. The stories are gripping, astonishing and powerfully brought to life in the pages of this book.
But these are not just bed-time tales of heroic men from a lost age. They are stories that shine a powerful and sometimes uncomfortable light on what it means to be a true man of God a Christian today. Read it, reflect on it, think through the implications by yourself or with others to train yourself for the greatest battle of all.
Oh yes, and what's so special about a bean field that would make you want to stand your ground alone against a slavering horde of Philistines?
The answers to these and many more questions are to be found within this no-holds-barred guide to spiritual warfare for today's Christian man...
Review
Over the last few years I have watched with a great deal of joy God raise up young men and churches in the UK. Dai is an example of the type of men God is raising up. Faithful to the scriptures, missional in his approach and passionate about the call of God to make disciples of all nations. Pick up "The Hard Corps" and let the Spirit of God encourage and challenge you. --Matt Chandler, Pastor of The Village Church, Flower Mound, TX and President of Acts 29
Some books are sophisticated, smooth and subtle. This is not one of them. In fact, it should carry a warning for those with a sensitive disposition. It is hard hitting, confronting and very challenging. For all of its bite & boldness, the book displays a sure touch when it comes to handling the Bible because we are always taken to Jesus, the true hero. This is a great book for men to help them consider the call & claims of King Jesus. But in the end, you will not just be challenged about masculinity, you will be taken to the feet of the Ultimate Man so you can act like a real man and worship. --Steve Timmis, Director Acts 29, Western Europe
