No date but probably early 1900s, 1/4 leather, wear to covers and spine, mainly edges and corners, corners bumped and worn, boards showing, surface of leather worn on corners, top and bottom of spine worn, sides of spine worn, fabric on edges of covers worn and some wear to surface, gilt edges all round still bright, marbled end papers, internally in good condition, pages crisp and clear but slightly yellowing, some foxing on edges mostly quite light but heavier on the last few pages of maps, a few small marks, the price includes postage and packing to a UK Mainland address, due to the weight (5kg) there will be an additional charge to everywhere else, please ask for a quote. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: No Dust Jacket. Half-bound in dark blue leather over blue cloth. Three gilt-bordered compartments on spine - with gilt lettering in one. AEG. Blue marbled endpapers. Filled with single and double-page maps. 284 text pages in addition to the maps. No publication date, but likely between 1912 and 1918, as it lists Arizona and New Mexico as states (admitted in 1912) , and shows Germany prior to the end of 1918 and Austria-Hungary prior to the split. Some fairly light rubbing/scuffing to the spine edges & extremities, and to the corners. Some fading/discoloration to some areas on the front board. Binding gilt is bright - that on page edges a bit tarnished/scuffed. 3" closed tear at the bottom of page viii. 1/2" closed tear in the fore-edge border of map 108. Else pages quite clean, with just a bit of age toning. All maps present. Binding is still solid & strong. Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. This large and heavy atlas (Atlas Folio and 6.5kg) is in very good shape with no structural faults. There is no discernible lean or bowing. Half bound in green leather over green boards. 6 panel decorated spine with gilt title in second panel, gilt stamped title on upper board. Marbled endpapers.Slight spotting of endpapers. No publication date, but after 1906 when the railway line to Broken Hill in N E Rhodesia was completed. 70 of the 210 maps deal with the British Empire (on which the sun never set). The full colour chromolithograph maps all seem to be the work of George Philip and Son. As well as the physical maps there are also many maps and diagrams showing the world's commerce; many of these maps are designed to show the pre-eminence of Empire. The maps are printed on heavy quality dense paper and the 284 page triple column index on lighter paper. The corners are slightly bumped, and there is a saucer stain on the back board. Hardcover. Condition: Fair. Heavily soiled, faded and scuffed green boards half bound with leather corners and spine. Edges are heavily worn, there are dents, cloth is rubbed through in places. Corners are rubbed through. The leather at bottom corner of rear board is torn and dangling, but still attached. Front board is bowed. Gilt-stamped decoration and print along spine. Five raised bands along spine. Spine is heavily rubbed along extremities. head and tail. Tail of spine at front hinge has some chipping. Binding is holding together well. Hinges at front and back endpapers are nearly cracked their length. Previous owner's inscription at ffep. Closed tears along vertical edge of ffep. Some brown staining at corners of front and back endpapers. Page edges are soiled. Top page edge is finished in gilt. Some pages are wrinkled. Interior is heavily age-toned with signs of foxing, though the maps remain clean and clear. A worn and old, but still very attractive book. Seller Inventory # 004766
