Harnessing Survey Data to Shape the Future of Work: A Descriptive Statistical Analysis of Jobs, Skills, and New Forms of Employment in Bhutan, Georgia, and the Philippines

Analyzing the pilot implementation of the Jobs and Skills Survey in Bhutan, Georgia, and the Philippines, this report shows how it can help policymakers design skills programs and promote inclusive, quality employment opportunities.

The JSS, a modular supplement to national labor force surveys, generates new policy-relevant indicators on job tasks, skills use, and workplace digitalization. The report highlights differences across demographic and occupational groups, helping to identify skills mismatches, gaps in technology access, and emerging labor market trends. It provides insights on how workers engage with technology, adapt to changing job requirements, and experience evolving forms of work, including platform-based and nonstandard arrangements. It demonstrates the feasibility of integrating the JSS module into official survey systems to support evidence-based labor and skills policies.
