[From the publisher's preface] In thanking the public for the support which was accorded their previous editions of The Indispensable Reference Guide of Great Britain and Ireland, Messrs. A. F. Harrod & Co. beg to state they have been induced to re-issue it with Harrod's Removers' Guide in one Volume. This Guide embodies the names of over 23,000 Cities, Towns and Villages in Great Britain and Ireland, alphabetically arranged, with the Post Towns, County and Mileage from London to each place in Great Britain, and from Dublin to each place in Ireland, the Railway Station or the nearest, with mileage to each place, the accommodation at each Station, showing: P. for Passengers, G. Goods, F. Furniture Vans, etc.; the names of Railway Companies at each Station, the Crane Power, and the Telegraph Offices or the nearest, with mileage to each place. Harrod's Removers' Guide contains the names of Furniture Removers and Road Transport Contractors throughout Great Britain and Ireland. Special Lists of Auctioneers, House and Estate Agents, Manufacturers, Merchants, High-Class Tradesmen, etc., are also included. A glance at the headings will suffice to show the great value and importance of the information given, which is not to be found in any other work, neither time, labour, or expense having been spared to render this the most trustworthy and complete Guide of the kind published. Messrs. A. F. Harrod & Co. thank their numerous patrons for the favour and support which has been accorded them, and hope the large circulation of this work will ensure them satisfactory compensation for the cost of advertising. Their best thanks are also due to those who have so kindly assisted in the collection of information. In conclusion, we would add that, although every care has been taken to avoid errors and omissions, yet in such a work it is most difficult to ensure perfect accuracy, therefore the Publishers cannot hold themselves responsible for the errors that may appear from any cause whatever. (Hingham, Norfolk, 1923.).
