Harut and Marut: A Study of Quranic Narrative, History, and Tradition explores one of the most intriguing and widely discussed figures mentioned in the Quran. Though the reference to Harut and Marut is brief, it has generated centuries of interpretation, scholarly debate, and cultural storytelling across Islamic, Jewish, and broader historical traditions.

This book examines the subject in a structured and balanced way. It begins with the Quranic account and moves into classical Islamic commentary, presenting how early scholars understood and explained the narrative. It then expands into comparative religious perspectives, highlighting parallel themes found in other ancient traditions. The study also explores the development of folklore and legendary material that grew around Harut and Marut over time, including popular stories that became widely known in different cultures.

In addition, the book looks at how Sufi writers, historians, and modern researchers have interpreted the narrative, offering symbolic, theological, and academic perspectives. It also addresses common misconceptions and clarifies the distinction between scripture, scholarly interpretation, and later cultural additions.

Rather than promoting a single viewpoint, this work aims to present the material with clarity and balance, allowing readers to understand how the story evolved across time and traditions. It is designed for readers interested in Islamic studies, comparative religion, history of ideas, and the development of religious narratives.

At its core, this book highlights enduring themes of knowledge, responsibility, temptation, and human choice, showing why the story of Harut and Marut continues to attract attention in both academic and popular discussions today.
