For centuries, millions of people have disappeared without explanation.
Children vanish from locked bedrooms. Hikers disappear from isolated trails. Fishermen are found missing from boats drifting miles offshore. Entire families disappear overnight, leaving behind untouched meals, unlocked doors, and no evidence of where they went.
Governments blame crime. Police blame human trafficking. Scientists blame accidents and statistical coincidence.
They are all wrong.
Humanity has been harvested for thousands of years.
Puerto Rican forensic pathologist Dr. Elena Serrano discovers the first evidence of the horrifying truth while examining the remains of an unidentified body. Hidden within its DNA is a genetic sequence that should not exist—a biological marker unlike anything found in the human genome.
At first, Elena believes she has discovered an isolated mutation. But when she searches international forensic databases, she finds the same marker buried within unidentified remains recovered across the world.
Some are decades old.
Others are centuries old.
And several belong to people who are still alive.
Her investigation leads to an impossible conclusion: some of the missing have been returned.
But they are no longer entirely human.
For millennia, an ancient extraterrestrial species known as the Veyr has secretly visited Earth, abducting human beings and studying them as biological resources. Their technology is so advanced that they do not conquer civilizations with armies or destroy planets from orbit.
They cultivate them.
Earth is not a world awaiting invasion.
It is a farm.
The disappearances are harvests. The experiments are part of a program that has continued across generations. And the people returned to Earth are sophisticated biological imitations—human enough to pass every conventional medical examination, yet altered to serve a purpose humanity has never understood.
Elena soon discovers that these hybrids are no longer isolated.
They are everywhere.
Inside governments.
Inside militaries and intelligence agencies.
Inside corporations, hospitals, laboratories, and police departments.
Some have lived among humanity for decades without knowing what they truly are. Others know exactly who created them—and why.
As Elena's investigation attracts the attention of powerful forces determined to silence her, she uncovers evidence of something even more terrifying: the harvest is accelerating.
Disappearances are increasing worldwide. Strange objects are appearing in the upper atmosphere. Deep-ocean monitoring stations are detecting enormous movements beneath the sea. Classified satellites are tracking objects entering Earth's atmosphere without slowing down.
After thousands of years of quietly collecting humanity piece by piece, the Veyr are preparing for the final phase of the Harvest Protocol.
And Elena discovers the terrible reason.
Humanity was never meant to inherit Earth.
We were allowed to multiply.
We were allowed to build civilizations.
We were allowed to believe the planet belonged to us.
Because one day, when our population became large enough, they were always coming back to collect what was theirs.
Now Elena must expose a conspiracy older than civilization while confronting an enemy capable of wearing any human face.
Because the invasion isn't coming.
It has already happened.
And the question is no longer whether humanity can stop the harvest.
It is whether there will be anyone left when it is over.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
