Harvey Penick's Little Blue Golf Book

From what started out as innocent) jottings in a notebook, Harvey Penick's delightfully anecdotal Little Red Golf Book and its sequel, the Little Green Golf Book, have been worldwide bestsellers that have guaranteed the author cult status in the world of golf instruction.

Harvey Penick, who sadly died on the eve of the 1995 US Masters, was shrewdly aware that half of all new aspiring golfers are women. In his Little Blue Golf Book, he addresses, in his customary courteous and effortless style, the unique requirements of the woman golfer.

With gentle humour, Penick concedes that men are much stronger but lack control, while women invariably need to develop extra power. Penick shows women how they can hit the ball further and conversely, how to use their intuitive touch around the green as well as negotiating hazards as varied as water, bunkers and seemingly well-intentioned male advice.

From the regular player and the occasional holiday golfer to the businesswoman striving to hold her own playing with clients, the Little Blue Golf Book caters for golf's most overlooked audience - and provides a fitting tribute to Harvey Penick's fairmindedness, considerable wisdom and love for golf.

Harvey Penick was a former University of Texas golf coach and a club professional for over 50 years. Retired since 1973, he was regarded as one of the best golf teachers in the game and continued to give the occasional lesson to pro's such as Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw right up until his death. This is his third book.
