Achaan Sumedho Bhikkhu, an American, has been Abbott of several Theraveda Buddhist Monasteries in Europe. He shares his reflections and personal experience with illness and the living/dying process. With warmth and wisdom he relates the way monks learn to live within the discipline and restraint of the monastic order, and the ways each of us can learn to live within the limitations imposed by illness and disabling conditions. He sensitively shares the ways he has been affected by his teacher's stroke and subsequent paralysis, and what he has learned by observing the way his teacher is cared for by the monks in Thailand.
