Answers basic questions about fitness, nutrition, and safety measures at home and at school
Pres-Gr 4--Although the material in this volume is useful and well explained, it is difficult to determine its intended audience. The format consists of a question at the top of each page (e.g., "What Are Allergies?" "Why Must We Wear Seat Belts?") with brief explanations accompanied by garish cartoon illustrations and occasional full-color photos. The helpful, frequently requested information is written for a variety of age levels, ranging from preschoolers, who will enjoy the bus-driving teddy bears, to primary grade children, who will better understand the definitions of antibodies and melanin. The notes to parents on each page will help adults answer questions that children might have about each concept. While not suitable for assignments, this title may be welcomed by parents of children whose favorite word is "Why?"--Christine A. Moesch, Buffalo & Erie County Public Library, NY
