He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force Medical Service Corps and chairperson of the Health Information Management & Systems Society (HIMSS) Privacy and Security Committee and currently serves as a Fellow of the National Cybersecurity Institute, Excelsior College, Washington, DC.
