Heart of a Champion: Proven Strategies to Help You Discover the Heart of a Champion That Beats Within You

One of the girls' dads walked over to me while I was unsaddling Todd, my calf roping horse.
“Not everybody can be a World Champion,” he said, “and your horse is alright, but he's not enough.”“And some people like you,” he continued, “some people like you just do this stuff for fun."

I’d just got done competing. I’d taken second place. I’d been competing in the Women's Professional Rodeo Association for fifteen years. I really wanted to become the Tie-Down Calf Roping World Champion. Really bad. What he said stung deep. I felt my tears start to well up. I told myself, ‘Don't you dare cry in front of this guy.’He made me ask myself: ‘How bad do I want it? How bad do I want to win the World?’
My answer was, ‘I really want to win it.’
