About the Author

James Sears is Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Army. He hails from Louisville, Kentucky and he is a graduate of Western Kentucky University with a BS in business administration and from Central Michigan University with a masters in Human Resource Management. Mr. Speaker officially started writing poetry while on a combat tour in Iraq in 2007. This led a poet to state that he was "Born in Battle." In 2009, Mr. Speaker formed a poetry group in Stuttgart, Germany called Vox Imperium which means, word control in Latin. The Vox crew hosted poetry shows all over Germany. In 2011, Mr. Speaker returned to states, became a member of the Virginia Poetry Society, and joined Poetic Expression located in Hampton, VA. While in Virginia, he hosted Poetic Expression at Queen's Way Soul Caf�, The House of Consciousness, Barnes and Noble Open Mic Fridays, and Co-Host a weekly poetry blog talk radio show with C Bravo of C Bravo Productions. James has taken scores of poets from Virginia to New York City to perform at the Nuyorican Poetry Caf� and other venues in New York City. Lieutenant Colonel James Sears served as professional military mentor, an adjunct professor at Saint Leo University, and a member of Kappa Alpha Psi. Still on active duty and currently assigned at the Pentagon, James has served this country for over 24 years. He has earned two Bronze Star Medals and a host of other awards, completed three combat tours, while successfully commanding Soldiers at multiple levels. He has two beautiful daughters Sydnee and Jaila Sears and he loves to share poetry.
