Heaven: Or, an Earnest and Scriptural Inquiry Into the Abode of the Sainted Dead

Heaven: Or, An Earnest And Scriptural Inquiry Into The Abode Of The Sainted Dead by Henry Harbaugh is a theological treatise that explores fundamental questions about the afterlife from a Protestant perspective. Originally published in the mid-19th century, Harbaugh investigates whether heaven is a mere state or a tangible place, its location, and the connection between the souls of the departed and the living. The work addresses various theories, such as intermediate abodes, transmigration, and the concept of earth's renovation, ultimately advocating for a permanent, localized heavenly realm prepared for believers. It also delves into themes of divine, angelic, and saintly sympathy, the roles of Christ and the Spirit, and the church as a bridge between heaven and earth. The volume is enriched with prefaces and scholarly discussion, treating Scripture, church tradition, and rational reflection as companions in the pursuit of understanding heaven.
