A Hebrew Reader for Ruth is intended for classroom and personal study. The book of Ruth makes an excellent first text for students of Classical Hebrew. First, it uses for the most part standard morphology, syntax, and vocabulary, including a number of feminine verb forms. Second, Ruth is an interesting and well-crafted story, whose character and plot development keep students interested, and introduces them to many of the techniques of biblical Hebrew narrative. Finally, Ruth is a manageable length, which realistically allows its use in a semester.
