Help I'm a Baby Boomer

Subtitle: Battling for Christian Values inside America's Largest Generation.

Were you born between 1946 and 1964? The you are one of us! Or perhaps you have kids that are boomers and you have never been able to figure us out.

Hans Finzel, a card carrying boomer describes the boomer generation from a Christian point of view, taking a look at what the values are that shaped this generation. This is a book about the conflicts in values that were prevelant in the 1960's with those of today's world in the lives of boomers.

Dr. Hans W. Finzel is Executive Director of CB International (formerly CBFMS), Wheaton, Ill. After 10 years experience in leadership training in Eastern Europe, Dr. Finzel joined the home office staff of CBI in 1991. In May of 1993, he became the fifth Executive Director of CB International.

CBI deploys an annual missionary force of over 650 short- and long-term missionaries serving the Church on five continents impacting 60 countries. The ministry focus at CB International is the fulfillment of the Great Commission through the primary tasks of evangelism, church planting, and the development of national leadership.

Finzel, whose father was one of about 100 German scientists brought to America at the end of World War II to work on the U.S. space program, became a Christian after spending much of his freshman year at the University of Alabama in the counterculture movement of the sixties. Two decades-plus of Christian experience have not allowed him to forget the joy of discovering Christ in a radical conversion. His perspective as a first generation Christian gives him fresh insight as to how to reach today's lost world with the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Hans and his wife, Donna, met at Columbia International University, South Carolina(B.A). After their marriage, he attended Dallas Theological Seminary, Texas, and graduated in 1978 with a master of theology degree (Th.M.). In 1989, he received a doctor of missiology degree (D.Miss.) from Fuller School of World Mission, Pasadena, Calif. Prior to coming to CBI, Dr. Finzel served as pastor of the First Baptist Church of Long Beach, Calif. (1978-1981) During his decade of ministry in Eastern Europe (1981-1991), based in Vienna, Austria, he served as Field Chairmen for the CBI Vienna field and as Administrative Director, Personnel Director, teaching facilitator, and writer for BEE International. REVIEW: Every generation has a very distinct culture, shaped largely by what we went through from age 8 to 15. What is happening in our country in those years shapes us deeply.

In this book I wrote to about about my generation, we learn some of the inner workings of our values as a generation. I explore things like our view of careers, money, children, fitness and technology.
