About the Authors

Ulf Meyer, born 1970, studied architecture at the Technical �University of �Berlin and the Illinois Institute of Technology in �Chicago. �Held lectureship �positions abroad in �Tokyo, Japan and �Berkeley� , �California, among �other �places. 2008 – 2010 �Assistant Professor for �Sustainable �Urban Construction at �Kansas State �University. 2010 – 2011 Hyde Chair of Excellence at the University of Nebraska-�Lincoln. Countless lectures and publications on contemporary architecture.

Laura Kolbe, born 1957, Professor for European History at the �University of Helsinki with focus on urban, cultural and social history. �Membership of �countless cultural organisations and �municipal insti�tutions. Participation in �national committees and academic �research �activities.

Douglas Gordon, born 1951, studied archi�tecture at The Bartlett, �University College London. Archi�tect and �planner. Involvement in several urban development projects for the �Greater London Council (GLC), the London Borough of Camden and the Housing Fund of Finland with focus on the urban development of Helsinki and spatial strategies within the metropolitan region.
