Small Octavo. A fascinating collection of the writings of F.J. Temple on Henry Miller with the strong association with artist Arthur Secunda (1927-2022). Temple, Miller and Secunda were all friends. Secunda told me of Henry Miller's first art exhibit in Paris. He attended out of mercy assuming virtually no one would be in attendance. As he walked nearer the exhibit, he saw long lines of the French public who adored Miller's writings and now were eager to see his art. Each book is inscribed by the author: First book: Miller (1965) " à Arthur affectueueusement cet "Henry Miller" pas trop degure j'espere-J" (To Arthur/Affectionately /this/ "Henry Miller" /not too bad I hope-J . Second book: Henry Miller (1977) "pour Arthur ce petit portrait de mon uncle d'amerique Henry Miller, love Jacjues, Arthur living now in Arles, March 78; (for Arthur/ this little portrait/ of my American uncle /Henry Miller,/ love/ Jacques / Arthur living now/ in Arles, March 78. Third book: Henry Miller; Que suit-je? La Manufacture: "To Arthur le portrait de l'oncle Henry que j'espere ressemblant , love, Jacques. ( To Arthur/ the portrait of Uncle Henry/ that I hope resembling, /love,/ Jacques. Secunda's art hangs in the permanent collections of MOMA, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Norton Simon and many others. All issued in paperback in French, each in very good condition, with some rubbing and wear to one corner of first book.
