This collection of sketches differ from the previous ones, because they led to the - at least - partial construction of the large urban ensemble of the Budapest Sports and Cultural Center. It was a result of another competition, when the winners were invited to the design of the complex. We - with Dr. Antal Lazar and the A & D Studio - won the first prize, and eventually the commission. Interesting distant cooperation resumed, between Pennsylvania and later Florida, and the office in Budapest, Hungary. More then eight hundred drawings were faxed back and forth, from which just a bit over a hundred are depicted here, my ink drawings, if not otherwise noted. The creative talent of my partner and friend, Tony, and his colleagues, tested and amended the sketches, and eventually executed the construction documents. We had a very fruitful and constructive collaboration, making from the tentative and sometimes crazy drawn ideas a physical reality. It didn't help, that the change of government and following delays resulted in a decade-long postponement and several changes in the completion of the project. At the time of the writing of these lines, the construction resumed and there is a hope, that the long stagnant "thorn hall", as it is called by the press, finally opens its gates to the expectant public.
