Hey Dad, Let's Have a Catch - Mom's Choice Award Recipient

This Mom's Choice Awards recipient is a heartwarming story of a timeless activity, and a reminder to parents and children of all ages of the importance of face-to-face interaction.

In this children s book, a simple, yet meaningful activity a five-minute catch between a father and son speaks volumes about communication, family, and life. Through the eyes of the child, five-minute catches, squeezed in between the many shifts of his hardworking father, are precious moments and far more than just a physical activity.

In Hey Dad! Let s Have a Catch, the catch becomes a metaphor for communication between father and son, parent and child. Although the dynamics of the activity change through the years, sadly ending and beginning anew when the son becomes a father himself, a catch is depicted as a process, rite of passage, and gift to pass along.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York (the true epicenter of the world), Harold was inspired to write Hey Dad! to honor his father, a child of the Great Depression. The message is clear. It doesn't take expensive equipment to make a connection with a child. It just takes a little bit of time. Harold has a B.A. in Psychology from Wagner College and an M.A. in Counseling from NYU.
