His experiences as a flying instructor in the R.C.A.F., during which time he met the love of his life, Lillian Phillips, the start of a wonderful fifty-five year relationship.His post-war efforts at establishing himself and his move to Florida. The story covers the sad period of nearly two years of caring for his wife after she suffered a stroke, which left her paralyzed on one side and unable to talk, of her eventual passing and how he dealt with this.His story details his struggles, failures, and successes during the years 1916 to 2002. It also explains the title.

About the Author
Rene a. Van den Brande born in Antwerp, Belgium in 1916, he immigrated to Canada in 1925. Educated in Leamington, Ontario, he studied accounting and after WW II earned a C.A. degree.He was a flying instructor in the R.C.A.F. and was discharged with the rank of flying officer. It was during this time he met the love of his life, Lillian Phillips, a relationship that was to last for fifty-five years. After World War II he held a number of managerial positions. At age seventy-three, he retired in Florida, where he resides today.After a lengthy illness, his wife passed away in 1999, this prompted him to write his autobiography that he finished at age eighty-five.
