This is the 5th edition of Hidden Places guides covering the largest county in England and is printed in full color. Yorkshire is truly a county packed with diversity. In the northwest are the picturesque Dales with its varied scenery of peat moorland, green pastureland and scattered woods intersected by the numerous streams and rivers. To the northeast are the imposing Yorkshire Moors, the rich agricultural Vale of York, the chalky hills of the Wolds and the dramatic storm-tossed coastline. To the south are the industrial and commercial cities and towns, which have made such a major contribution to Britain's industrial and cultural heritage.
Previous editions have sold very well and were well received by readers - "I think your book is wonderful. I have bought two already for other people. I found it really useful when we went to Yorkshire. You seem to pick out the right places to include." - a reader from Lymm, Cheshire; "May I congratulate you on your series of books on the Hidden Places. Although I was under the impression that I knew Yorkshire pretty well, I have found many new and interesting snippets in the Yorkshire & Humberside edition." - a reader in Malton, and by the media - "A fascinating tourist guide" - Yorkshire Regional Newspapers. The book is written in an attractive narrative style and is packed with information and colored photographs covering the more secluded and little known venues for food, accommodation and places of interest as well as the more enduring attractions of the county. The cover features eye-catching photographs of the waterfall at Ingleton, a view of the Yorkshire Dales and the ruins of Kirkstall Abbey.
