These are a series of humorous sketches by Ann Sophia Stephens (1810 - 1886) written under her pseudonymn, Jonathan Slick. She was an editor for several periodicals, started her own magazine, and was also an author, often credited with founding the dime novel genre. This work was first published in 1843 by her husband. Split to rear edge of spine (not to the gutter), general wear, previous owner bookplate. 12 pages of ads in rear. Ref: Not in Wright. ; B&W Illustrations; 12mo 7" - 7½" tall; 299 pages. International Shipping is via USPS Priority Mail or by UPS International: rates start at $42.00 via a Priority Flat Rate Envelope, depending on the destination.
