High Performance Two-Stroke Engines

This book analyses the technology of spark ignition two-stroke engines. The presentation is simple and comprehensive. The description of the operating cycle, the fluid dynamics, the lubrication and the cooling systems is followed by painstaking analysis of the mechanical organs, with the materials and the manufacturing processes employed to produce them. The book is completed by an overview of the history and evolution of these engines and by an examination of the principal types and the diverse fields in which they are employed. The second edition of this work, currently the only one of its kind, has been expanded with an in-depth analysis of the ignition and combustion phases and the formation of the air-fuel mixture, with particular attention paid to the most recent injection systems.

After having worked for a long time in the industry, creating, among other things, various technical manuals for some of the most well-known companies in the motor industry, Massimo Clarke devoted himself to journalism, specializing in technical dissemination in the field of cars and motorcycles. For years he was in charge of the technique for the weekly Motosprint. He has directed two specialized monthly magazines (Mototecnica and Autotecnica) and has collaborated with several other magazines in the sector. He was later technical supervisor of Superwheels magazine.He has to his credit the books Storia delle moto, Manuale dellauto e Manuale della moto published by Arnoldo Mondadori, while for Giorgio Nada Editore he has Ducati Scambler, Desmo e Mach 3, Moto Morini. Restoration Guide and High performance two-stroke engines.Since 2012 he has also collaborated with the Paganelli Foundation for which he has held courses on the restoration of vintage motorcycles and advanced motorsport.
