Evidence of the many years of study and research to find the Fountain of Youth. Yes, a portion of my life, with the backup of many dedicated medical professionals, has been spent to put you on track to live a healthy and happy life. No longer should we think of seniors 80 or even 100 as being old. As gerontologists amass information on the aging process and understand more about their life span, they think that a senior has a good chance of reaching 125 years. How exciting for seniors to be offered a place in this most desired lineup of people and quite a large group it is. Current estimates are that 450,000 are 100 years old and growing like greased lightning. But where can I find the nearest location to join this group? I can see you packing and getting ready to join them. Well, here is the good news. You do not have to travel at all. It is right within us and always has been. Every time you exercise, eat healthy foods and have a good belly laugh, or adjust to a stressful situation you are replenishing the Fountain of Youth. This book will guide you to make the right choices based on up to date and reliable information. As a typical type ‘A’ personality which will be discussed in future chapters, I decided to come out of retirement and fulfill a lifetime fantasy as a stand-up comedian. Although I dedicated many hours of research to provide high level information on how to slow down the aging process, I did not air enough data on humor. Now, this book provides you evidence that healthy laughter may very well be a vital factor for the graying senior. I will also share with you hundreds of jokes that I used in my role as a standup comic.
About the Author
Lee Belshin M.S. was born on a farm in Lexington, Massachusetts. After serving in the Navy during WWII, he graduated from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Master of Science degree in Health Education. He worked as a Public Health Educator for the Los Angeles County Health Department. In this position he was one of the first to organize and teach classes in gerontology. He is Past President of the Golden Empire Northern California Chapter of the American Heart Association, and a recipient of its Distinguished Service Award. He is the author of the book “Love Your Heart” and a second book on preventing a fatal heart attack entitled “The Love Your Heart Guide for the 90‘s.” A third book, “The Complete Prostate Book” discusses one of the main killers of mankind. (A more accurate title would be “To Pee or not to Pee”.) The book has been translated into several languages and is on sale in several countries including Russia and Spanish speaking nations. He has always been interested in the relationship between humor and health. At an age when most comedians retire, Lee has fulfilled his lifetime ambition and became a Stand-Up-Comic
