About this Item
Third edition. Cover a bit rubbed: Most of fragile detailing has flaked off, but gilt text and pasted-on picture still clear; spine ends show wear; 1 4" hole near base of spine; binding tight; no foxing; hinges slightly cracked; p/o signatures on front endpaper; 2" stain at front hinge. A not-bad-at-all, perfectly readable copy of Griggs' fourth novel, written as a response to Thomas Dixon's white-supremacist best-seller "The Leopard's Spots." A Baptist pastor, Griggs founded the Orion Publishing Co. and sold books at revival meetings; few of the copies have survived. "The Hindered Hand" remains a significant work of early 20th-century black political literature. Uncommon. 333 pages + 5 pages of publisher's ads. Seller Inventory # 0496

Store Description
If I've mischaracterized a book, please let me know, and I'm happy to accept returns for refunds.
Orders usually ship within three business days. I generally pack books in boxes, with padding, and unless they're unusually bulky or heavy -- more than four pounds or so -- I won't ask for additional shipping costs. For domestic media-mail buyers, anyway. Prices for international and even priority shipping can get *insane*.
