You're Hired!: Secrets to Successful Job Interviews

Designed to help job seekers cope with interviews, this helpful career guide provides helpful tips on dealing with difficult interview situations, covering one hundred of the toughest interview questions and answers, negotiation tactics, interview strategies, and more.

Your résumé shines. You exceed all requirements. You know that you are uniquely qualified for this position. The company, its interest piqued by your cover letter, call you to schedule a meeting. All that stands between you and a new job is an interview. The dreaded job interview. Maybe your current job isn't so bad after all?

Let's face it: Job interviews can be extremely stressful. This book is designed to help you prepare for interviews so you can be more relaxed and perform better on the big day. Nuts-and-bolts information on the different types of interviews and how to handle illegal questions is complemented with information on what to wear to an interview, how body language is often interpreted, and how to sell yourself. An extremely helpful chapter lists 100 typical questions and their suggested answers. There's even a chapter on interview follow-up (yes, of course, you should write thank-you letters). Despite the limiting title, this book is about much more than interviews. Chapters on job-searching techniques, résumé preparation, and evaluating job offers make this book extremely useful for people in all phases of the job hunt. A special chapter of advice for older job seekers and advice from corporate interviewers in fields such as accounting, high tech, and public relations round out this comprehensive book. Job hunting is never easy, but You're Hired! will help you make the process as favorable, quick, and (relatively) painless as possible. --C.B. Delaney
