The highly popular picturesque novel of Gil Blas, a boy born in misery who leaves his home town to attend university but is forced to help robbers along the way. After becoming a valet, the reader witnesses Blas claim the bright future he feels he is owed. Written by Alain Rene Le Sage, a French playwright and novelist best known for this work. Bound in the original full calf. Externally, sound with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Joints starting but firm. Front joint of volume one held by cords only and rear joint detached. Rear joint of volume two and front joint of volume three are weak. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with the odd handling mark.
