He was born at Chambry (Savoie). His father had been one of Napoleon's officers. Volume four of a four-volume set only. In a half-calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, generally smart, though with some rubbing. Internally, firmly bound. Bookplate and institutional ink stamp to front pastedown.
