Heavy rubbing and wear to binding and cover. From January 1857 to October, 1871 it was published without interuption.Henry Dawson became editor in July 1866. Publication was suspended in October 1871 when , Dawson was stricken with a severe attack of congestion of the brain. Upon his recovery, in January 1872, publication resumed. The magazine was edited in 1857 by John Ward Dean, later Librarian of the New England Hist. Soc. of Boston; In 1858 by George Folsom, subsequently the Minister of the US to the Netherlands; From 1859-1865 by John Gilmary Shea, distinquished historian; From Jan- June 1866 by Henry R.
