Two Volumes. Large Hardbacks approx 15.5 x 10 inches. In contemporary half calf maroon leather bindings; with marbled boards, gilt banding to spines, with lettered in gilt. Plain endpapers. In generally good condition. Some rubbing and bumps to board edges. Chipped at ends of spine, with slight loss. Rubbing to boards, volume I rear half sunned. Private Bookplate to front endpapers (Edmund Broderip) with faint offsetting. Both title pages have small stamp on verso (1831 Duplicate for sale). Volume I title page a little chipped lower edge. Some handling marks to pages. Else good clean and tight copies. lxxx + 618pp & 528 + 6pp. Complete with 56 engraved plates (some large fold-out.) and large folding County Map at front by Bayly. Addenda and Plates list at rear V2. Plates include a nice double-pg.view of Dorchester, double-pg.view of Brownsea Castle, 2 full-pg.views of Lulworth Castle, full-pg.views of Milton Abbey, and Wimborne Minster, etc.,etc.; - All plates present SOME PLATES only appear in this first edition or also in the extremely scarce second edition.
