It covers the interplay of politics, literature, social life, education, and the influence of the Church of England. Volume I: Printing and the Book Trade in Cambridge, 1534-1698. 500 pages, index. Volume II: Scholarship and Commerce, 1698-1972. 511 pages, index. And Volume III: New World for Learning, 1873-1972. All volumes bound in black cloth, title on upper boards and spines gilt over maroon, maroon endpapers, no names, or bookplates but there is an area on the upper fore-edge of volume three with a light spash mark in pictorial dust jackets.
