Eight octavo volumes in full calf, generally in poor condition. Frontispiece portrait to Vol. I. Two folding engraved maps: Europe and Asia adjacent to Constantinople in Vol. VII, and a Map of the Eastern Part of the Roman Empire in Vol. II. Condition problems: boards detached from Vols. I and II; map detached, lightly foxed, and showing a small tear, and title page missing, from Vol. II; spines dried and worn, with some panels missing from all volumes. A nice copy for a binder, as for the most part it is internally fine, nicely printed by Thomas Davison in Whitefriars.
