Handsomely bound in three quarter calf gilt by Bayntun of Bath, cloth sides, top edges gilt, marbled endpapers, portrait frontispiece to first volume, extensive printed footnotes and sidenotes, general index to final volume. Printed by D. A. Talboys. Condition: NEAR FINE. Bindings tight and secure, the hinges and joints perfectly intact. A couple of trivial scuff marks to covers. Interiors largely fresh and clean. Without previous ownership markings. An exquisite set. Notes: A handsomely printed and bound 19th century edition of Gibbon's classic text.
